Endless belts for calibrating and satin finishing machines
The belts used on sheet metal satin finishing machines must guarantee, cycle after cycle, a uniform and repeatable surface finish on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals.
For this reason, we offer seamless, endless belts: manufactured to the required length, without overlapping the two ends, as occurs with traditional jointed belts.
The absence of seams offers concrete advantages in sheet metal satin finishing:
- No periodic marks on the satin finish. With jointed belts, the passage of the seam can leave a slight visible discontinuity in the satin finish, especially on highly reflective metal surfaces. The sleeve belt eliminates this risk.
- Uniform thickness and strength across the entire circumference thanks to the A.Piovan production system, both during the construction of the belt pack, the rubber coating, and the finishing.
- Excellent linearity, even when the length/width ratio of the machine bed is small—a common condition on compact satin finishing machines.
- Greater flexibility, which allows the use of smaller-diameter pulleys, useful for smaller machine layouts.
- Flatness and dimensional stability even under the stresses typical of sheet metal working (roller pressure, heat generated by friction).
- READY TO USE: Reduced machine startup times thanks to the A.Piovan finishing process, which makes the belt virtually ready for use with minimal fine-tuning.
Belt structure: the three key elements
Each belt is defined by three components, useful to know when choosing the best version for your sheet metal satin finishing machine:
- BELT PACK: determines the tensile strength, nominal thickness, and allowable working load of the belt. Available with or without internal sliding belt, internal support belt pack with 1, 2, or 3 belts depending on your needs. All belts are developed by A.Piovan R&D and ensure greater stability, therefore reducing belt tension for initial centering; lower tension equals longer life, especially for simpler machines without a centering system.
- RUBBER COVERING: the surface in contact with the abrasive/satin unit; determines grip, durability, and chemical resistance.
- SURFACE PROFILE AND DRILLINGS: the texture impressed on the rubber (alternating reliefs and voids), which regulates the contact and discharge of processing residues.
Coating Compounds: Which to Choose for Sheet Metal
For metal applications, where cutting oils, coolants, or abrasive residues are often present, special compounds offer added value compared to standard general-purpose compounds:
